New Generation of Black Preachers January 18, 2007

As the nation commemorates the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. a new generation of preacher is set to inherit the platform of civil rights and social gospel justice. In this article (here), these men are set to talk about a movement that their forefathers lived through. “I think there’s an enormous social justice gospel education agenda that faces this generation that succeeds some of the towering figures in the black pulpit,” explained Robert Franklin, professor of social ethics at Emory University. Most of all, this generation bears the burden of seeking justice and preaching liberation that holds the line on mammoth issues like exclusivity and the evangelical gospel witness.
