After years of interpretation by Western missionaries, African Christians welcome the release of Africa Bible Commentary, a 1,600-page commentary released this summer “by Africans, for Africans,” using the language of the common tongue to apply the Bible’s teachings into a context familiar to locals.

This study tool includes explanations of problems and provides scriptural answers to issues including AIDS, corruption and female genital mutilation. After 12 years of research and writing, the commentary of the whole Bible is now available. I look forward to seeing this work and hope it proves to further African understanding of the Bible and its call to believe.
